For the past few years the nirsc Golf Day was held at Shandon Park with varying degrees of support from Members. The change of venue proved to be an outstanding success with Edenmore being a popular choice for a good round of golf and a convivial atmosphere conducive to socializing and networking, with a host of prizes up for grabs.
The top prize was awarded to Craig McVeigh of Electro Automation, in 2nd place was Jim Fleming also of Electro Automation and in 3rd place was Paddy O’Doherty of CC Hellenic.
There were also prizes for: The Best Non-Qualifier which went to Crawford Hogarth of Mercury Security Management, Nearest The Pin which was awarded to Connor McCready of CC Hellenic, The Best Team of Four which went to Spirit Marketing Group and The Longest Drive which was awarded to Gary Clarke of G4S.
Congratulations to all the winners!
For the non-golfers and those that subscribe to Mark Twain’s view of golf being “a good walk spoiled”, a Wii Golf Competition also took place. 12 combatants fought it out with 1st Prize eventually going to Anne McKee of Robinson Services and 2nd Prize to Jennifer Quinn, also of Robinson Services. Competition was stiff and there’s the possibility of a grudge rematch next year!!
No one was fortunate to hole in one, but after 4 hours of birdies, eagles and bogies, 51 Members relaxed with liquid refreshments and sat down to a meal in the Clubhouse.
Karen Marshall, nirsc Chairperson, said: “Golf days are an ideal way to mix business with pleasure and it’s also a means where Affiliate Members can network with each other and Centre Managers. Thankfully we were blessed with good weather which was an added bonus on the day. I’d like to thank Spirit Marketing, Walker Communications, Mercury Security Management, OCS Group, Red Sky Group, Coey Advertising, G4S and Resource for their kind sponsorship of this event and we hope to be donating about £500 to the MacMillan Cancer Unit in memory of our colleague Les Hopson”.
